The Alliance works with and for the Voluntary & Community Sector in Portsmouth who work with children, young people and their families.
History of the Alliance
The Children & Young People’s Alliance was launched in February 2007, and is a sub group of Portsmouth Community Network (PCN). The aim of the Alliance is to provide clear and effective representation for the voluntary and community sector in Portsmouth by influencing, informing and sharing information about issues affecting children and young people and their families. The Alliance has a steering group made up of representatives from the sector, and in September 2009 an Alliance Co-ordinator was appointed to further develop our work.
What We Do
Membership of the Alliance is open to anyone in the voluntary & community sector in Portsmouth who works with children, young people and their families.
We run briefing events and taster workshops on issues that affect us all, and are always open to suggestions and requests. These events are always free to attend, offer an opportunity to network with colleagues and discuss the pressing issues.
We send a monthly email to all members updating them on training opportunities, funding available, opportunities for their clients, national, regional and local policy updates and much more. We also publicise job vacancies in the area and service developments, so get in touch if there’s something you want to share.
Members of the Alliance represent the sector at important local meetings, feeding back key points at steering group meetings – please see the minutes of the meetings for the latest updates. We are always looking for people who can act as representatives, whether on a regular basis, as a deputy or for one-off meetings.
